Step back in time with an unforgettable afternoon of music as the Providence Brigade Band brings the sounds of 19th-century America to the Main Street Community Center. Founded in the tradition of the original Providence Brigade Band, chartered in 1846, this remarkable ensemble recreates the brass bands of 1850 to 1890. Performing authentic musical arrangements from before, during, and after the American Civil War, the band uses period instruments and wears meticulously reproduced military band uniforms of the era, creating an immersive historical experience. Since reforming in 1996, the Providence Brigade Band has earned a distinguished reputation throughout New England, performing at renowned venues and events including Gettysburg National Military Park, Springfield Armory National Site, the Rhode Island Historical Society, the National Lincoln Forum, and the Civil War Music Gathering in Windham, New York. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a lover of live music, or simply looking for a unique family outing, this performance offers something for everyone.
