OCTOBER BOOK: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon

Banned Book Club meets once a month for an hour and a half of thoughtful discussion, community, and conversation. Each month, we select a banned or challenged book to read and explore together, discussing the themes, history, and impact of stories that have faced censorship. Whether you’re an avid reader or just looking to connect with others through meaningful conversation, new members are always welcome.

Join us each week at the Main Street Community Center for an hour of learning, curiosity, and conversation. Each week, we'll watch a lecture from The Great Courses, exploring everything from history and science to art, literature, philosophy, and the world around us. No homework. No tests. No prior knowledge needed. Just come curious! 

We'll watch the lecture together and leave a little time afterward to share thoughts, ask questions, and talk about what we've learned. 

This program is free and open to all. Donations are always welcome and help support programs at the Main Street Community Center.

Join instructor Lynn Byrne for a fun and welcoming four-week course designed to help you build confidence and improve your conversational Spanish. This class is open to anyone with some previous experience with the Spanish language. Even if the last time you took Spanish was in high school, you’re welcome to join! If you’ve taken a Spanish class with us at the Community Center before, this is a great opportunity to keep practicing and building on what you already know. Classes are offered both in person at the Main Street Community Center and online via Zoom, so you can choose the format that works best for you. Whether you’re looking to refresh your Spanish, become more comfortable speaking, or simply keep learning, we encourage you to join us!

Celebrate the beauty of summer with a relaxing watercolor workshop inspired by the colorful butterflies of the season. You'll be guided step by step through the process of creating your own butterfly painting while learning watercolor techniques you can continue to use at home. Whether you're picking up a paintbrush for the first time or have years of experience, this workshop is designed to be enjoyable and accessible for all skill levels. All materials are provided, so just bring your creativity and enjoy an afternoon of painting.
