With kingdoms imagined and heroes ready, the adventure begins. In this playful, creative program, students bring their artwork to life by building a one-of-a-kind fantasy world and stepping right into it. They’ll dream up original characters, explore expressive movement, and discover how great stories unfold from beginning to conflict to a magical resolution. Along the way, they’ll paint bold, large-scale backdrops, craft enchanting props and artifacts, and add imaginative details to their costumes with texture and flair. Through pose, gesture, and dramatic silhouette, students learn how to tell a story without even saying a word. The journey ends in a lively, joy-filled performance where their world comes alive through movement, voice, and imagination, building confidence, creativity, and a strong sense of collaboration.

Crochet Club is back and we’re keeping the creativity going! This month, we’ll continue building on our granny square project as we begin transforming our pieces into a finished pillow. Along the way, participants will deepen their crochet skills by learning how to read patterns, refine their stitching, and confidently sew squares together. Whether you’re returning or just jumping in, this is a relaxed and welcoming space to learn, create, and connect, one stitch at a time.

Animation continues this month with new techniques and even more creative storytelling! Students will build on the skills they’ve already learned as they dive deeper into the animation process. Using posable figures, participants will plan, stage, and photograph scenes to create their own animated short story. Along the way, they’ll explore concepts like movement, sequencing, and visual storytelling, all while bringing their ideas to life frame by frame in a fun and collaborative environment.

Now that the kingdom exists, it needs heroes. In this four-week after-school enrichment program, students design and construct their own wearable fantasy armor and royal accessories. Beginning with sketching and symbolic design, artists create personal crests inspired by animals, elements, colors, and their own unique strengths. Additional projects may include a knight’s helm, crown, or tiara, as students learn how shape, pattern, and repetition communicate meaning.

This three-week afterschool enrichment program will guide students through the fundamentals of crocheting Granny Squares and techniques for joining them together. By the end of the session, each participant will complete their own decorative throw pillow.

Bring your imagination to life! In this three-week after-school program, students will design their own characters using air-dry clay, develop a unique storyline, and learn the basics of stop motion animation. Using simple animation software, participants will capture their scenes and transform them into a short animated film to share and enjoy.

This five-week after-school enrichment program for grades PreK–3 invites young artists to design and build their own magical kingdom. Students begin with blueprint-style sketches, mapping castles, forests, mountains, and hidden treasure while learning about foreground, middle ground, and background. Using cardboard and recycled materials, children construct a detailed 3D castle, exploring texture techniques like sponge-painted stone walls and foil-pressed rock surfaces, along with layered sky and landscape painting. The series concludes with a gallery walk and short story.

Our Jr. Fiber Artists will put their crochet skills into action by creating baby blankets for Project Linus, an organization that provides handmade comfort items to children in need. Having learned crochet throughout the school year, students will now focus on working with intention, planning, stitching, and completing a meaningful fiber project from start to finish. This program emphasizes craftsmanship, teamwork, and the joy of using creative skills to support others. Each blanket becomes a tangible expression of kindness, care, and community connection.

Dinosaur Discovery Lab is a four-week after school science series for students in grades PreK–4. Young scientists will travel back to the Age of Dinosaurs as they explore deep time and the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods, discovering how Earth has changed over millions of years.
Through hands-on investigations, students will examine fossils, create clay imprints, learn about volcanoes and extinction events, and build a giant wall timeline of prehistoric life. The series concludes with an exciting grand finale as the group constructs and erupts a large paper-mâché volcano. Perfect for curious kids who love dinosaurs, big experiments, and exploring bold scientific ideas.

Explore the colorful world of polymer clay while designing wearable art and miniature creations. Students will learn foundational clay techniques including conditioning, color mixing, marbling, texturing, and sculpting as they bring their ideas to life.
Participants will create their own handmade beads and design a custom necklace and bracelet, then expand into sculpting charms, mini figures, and decorative pieces. Along the way, they’ll build fine motor skills, experiment with design principles, and develop confidence in their creative decision-making.
The program concludes with a finished collection of jewelry and small sculptures that reflect each student’s unique style. Perfect for creative kids who love hands-on projects, bold colors, and making art they can wear and share.

February’s Art Odyssey invites young artists to explore how color can express feelings, tell stories, and spread kindness. Artists will experiment with warm and cool color palettes, learn basic printmaking techniques, and collaborate on meaningful group artwork. Each project encourages creativity while reinforcing the power of kindness, both in art and in everyday life.

Get ready to bring the Willy Wonka squirrels to life! In this creative after-school program students will design and build the squirrel costumes for the upcoming WAJ production of Willy Wonka. From fluffy tails to fun accessories, participants will learn basic sewing, crafting, and costume making techniques while working together as the official Squirrel Squad!

Young engineers will take to the skies in Up, Up, and Away, a flight-focused month full of hands-on building, testing, and problem-solving. Students will explore the basics of aerodynamics, gravity, and air resistance through playful engineering challenges that encourage curiosity, creativity, and teamwork. From designing paper gliders to testing parachutes and protecting a precious cargo, kids will learn by experimenting, adjusting, and trying again, just like real engineers!

Young artists will step into the role of inventors as they explore how imagination and creativity bring ideas to life! Together, the class will create a collaborative mural filled with inventive ideas while exploring motion, cause and effect, and storytelling through art. Art Odyssey: The Nature In Our Watershed
Spring has sprung! Join us for this art-intensive program focusing on all things outdoors. Participants utilized a variety of techniques to create individual and group artwork, which was submitted to the 'Flowing Impressions' art exhibition, which took place to celebrate Schoharie Watershed Month
